Could you tell us a little about the process that you used to clean this coin?

I like the coin better after the cleaning and it is also a good example of buying a better quality coin from the start.

Yes but I'm working on a new (to me) method so I'll postpone this for a bit in the hope of figuring out how to do it better before going public with the experiment. I ordered some uncleaned coins and will be trying them when they arrive. The question is whether I'm ruining coins or improving them.

Glad I got in on the tail end of this post, I too think the second coin (or the first cleaned) looks better. Nice detail.
