I have heard of a bidding war before but this is silly. This Half is worth nowhere near what these bidders are doing here. Insane.

I did look up the value of this in CoinValues and in that grade it says it is worth $500 but I never thought anyone would actually ever pay that. Especially for a Franklin half. LOL.

Wow, I never thought a Franklin half would reach that top.
i have one in my collection and I requested a free appraisal from heritage auction and the value resulted only for $4. I guess the seller actually hit the jackpot.

I love the coloring but I am no fan of franklins. It is way over bid but in the heat of the moment some people get carried away.

This is unusual. Bidding wars usually start toward the end of the auction.

It could be a couple of registry set types trying to one-up each other. I remember getting left in the dust when a bidding war erupted over a 1932-S Washington quarter that I had put a modest bid on. A few weeks later I saw the exact same coin on ebay. When I searched the sellers history, he had bought a higher grade coin and was already dumping the lower grade coin he had just bought. It's insane.
