My hubby & I recently found these 2 coins and don't know whether to be excited by a rare find or dismayed at an ALMOST rare find. They appear to be 1937-D 3-leg Buffalo nickels, but they are 35.5mm and weigh 0.7oz (on a postal scale). They do not respond to a magnet. And obviously some nimrod drilled holes in them to create a couple of cool keychain trinkets. Any help/observations/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

They are novelty replicas, not real coins. They are not valuable.

Nice keychain though! Or perhaps some earrings?

Thank you for the input. We did have them tested and found out they are made of coin silver. Wonder if that changes anything?

It changes their value a little bit. Now they are worth how much silver is in them.

If they're made of silver, then they're worth something. Coin silver is 90% silver with the balance usually copper. 0.7 avoirdupois ounce is about 0.64 troy ounce, which makes them about 0.57 ozt in silver weight, which is worth about $19 right now.

if the size didn't, them being made of silver tells you they are not real because the Buffalo nickel wasn't ever made with silver.
