I recently moved into a new house and found this coin. It is in poor condition, but I am curious to know what it is.

Noobie guess: 17th to early 18th century, possibly German or Austro-Hungarian?

This could probably be a sol of Louis XV (France), or, depending on the size, a liard or a 1/2 sol.
Date between 1768 and 1774.

I agree with 'bart'. It is French but in the coins of Louis XV that I have seen he faces left. Louis III (1610-1643) and Louis XIV (1643-1715) both face right and both are crowned with wreaths. Hard to guess the denomination.

Thanks for th help.

The coin is 29mm

Not sure if this helps with the ID, but the head on the back is not up the same way as the image on the front (i.e. the base of the head is on the same 'edge' of the coin and the top of the front image.

Any thoughts on what it would be worth?
