Been looking closely at all the coins I've obtained from my Grandfather. He had multiple sets for the 98-S proof which I was beginning to sell. I believe this is a double-die error on the penny. Looking for pro help, and value? Excuse the photos it's tough to hold a loupe and DSL-R at the same time.

Are you talking about the silver area above TED? If so that's split plating not a DD.

Whoops silly of me. Double dies, how could I confuse such an easy thing as a split plate... So these are quite common in Proof Sets?

that plating problem is commom on all zinc cents.
check all the 98-S Pennies for the: Close AM (CAM)
