Just found my first dime in a roll of cents. It was in a Brinks plastic wrapped cents and is dated 1996-P and weighs 2.3g Just wondering if anyone else has ever found one? Thanks,
John1

Oh yes, its actually very common. I go through several hundred dollars in cents a month and find $1-2 in dimes on average. Especially with brinks rolls.
Rest in Peace

Don't worry about that. There are people that do that as a joke. They always wonder what the person getting that roll would be saying. AND, that is much better than the people that open a roll and find a lot of washers or just short a few coins.

It's these "new fangled" coins "sorting" machines. I have come up short many times when the dimes fall into the cent slots. This is why I sort my coins for counting in denominations. I had the teller witness the dime drop-ins, and sure enough, the end amount had several .01 in the end tally. A $5.00 roll of dimes netted 4.55, five dimes slipped into the cent slots. She replied that I fed them too fast. I reckon I will just spend them dimes in vending machines. Kinda strange that the cents don't fall into the nickel slot in their machine, must have something to thickness or weight (or both).

I usually get one or two of these per box of brinks cents that I get. Rarely I'll get a cent in with the nickels.

I get them very frequently in customer wrapped dimes, sometimes lots of them, and avoid customer wrapped dimes for that reason. I can understand someone getting frustrated at being 3 dimes short of a roll, but resorting to bank robbery is a little extreme!

I find dimes wrapped in penny rolls on a regular basis. Usually helps me break even form all the rolls I get that were short a cent or two. In the last few months I have had a run of bad luck with CWRs. In a box of quarters...every single roll was one quarter short. That was very annoying. From the last 3 boxes of nickels I have searched I ended up being shorted $4.75 in total with one roll of the nickels was filled with cents. I had to start marking my boxes as I pick them up so I can track which banks are repeat offenders for shortages.

I started pennies in January and for the month had 11 dimes, 1 in brinks wrap and 10 in CWR's. I had one roll that had a Bahamas penny and thought that I was out a penny, but the person who rolled it was nice enough to include a dime towards the end of the roll as well, so gained 9 cents and my first Bahamas penny.

I search nickels and dimes and have had a few rolls of dimes that had a penny in it and have had a lot of nickel rolls that had dimes in it. As mentioned before it evens out over time from all the shortages.

I have found a dime now and then. I also get rolls that are short a few cents, so it breaks even for me.

In $900 of cents......1 dime
In oh gosh....$30,000+ in halves...... one cent and one quarter ( I was VERY miffed at getting a cent, and to top it off it was a rotten Zincolin! )
