Okay, don't yell at me if this is the wrong area for this post!! Just got my 2006 W Silver Uncirculated Eagles today...finally .... have they announced the mintage on these yet? Is there a site where I can check mintages on newer coins? Are these anything special or just another product to clutter the already crowded market from the mint? Hello, Eventually the US Mint will come out with a total mintage on these. If they already haven't.Check their website.Someone here may know or go to the pcgs.com forums and do a search for 2006W ASE. These coins and the Reverse Proof seem to be doing quite well in the after market.I have not been following the pricing to closely so I do not know what the current pricing is.I bought 4 of the 3 coin ASE sets.Either way I don't think you can go wrong with these.I don't think these will reach the level of the 1995W,but who knows. hope this helps RW

20,000 in the 20th Anniv gold/silver set 250,000 in the 20th Anniv ASE set 200,000 individual mintage 470,000 total mintage making them considerably rarer than the key date 1996.

As far as the term "rare", in modern day times (these) 470,000 in 5, 10, 20 50, years time unless silver goes up to gold prices, there'll still be 470,000 right?
So in the scheme of things to an individual that's a large number, but is it really "rare" as far as collectors are concerned?

I would not call them "rare," nor will they ever be. They are being sold directly into collections, never to see circulation. It's not like an example Morgan dollar of which 2,000,000 were minted into circulation, yet now is a conditional rarity because there are so few left in Mint State. Perhaps the market will continue to support them - the numbers are not all that large. It's a market I won't be entering, though.

So, pretty much as I said, there will always be 470,000 unless silver becomes RARE.
That being said, do you not collect any new mint coins?.....and just stick with the old before anyone thought about saving coins?
What in your opinion would be a RARE coin? Like the 1995 W Silver Eagle?
