I paid around $12 for a Claudius II Gothica 268-270 AD Antoninianus in VF20. What is it's value, good buy?

Those NNC slabs don't stand for much--post pics when it arrives; I hope it's good!

Do you think it's worth more than I paid for it. Do I break open the slab when it arrives.

It looks OK quality in the slab - if it is Claudius II then I would say $11 is fine to pay for it.

I must say though it doesn't look that much like C2 to me, maybe its just because its in the slab, as said above, post better pics when you get it in hand.

Personal choice really - dont do anything until you have posted better pics, being in a slab wont reduce its value but only a tiny fraction of potential buyers will see it as an 'added value' thing.

Can't really make out much from the sellers pictures. For such a short reign there were a lot of coins produced for Claudius II. Most are common and fairly cheap, $11 for a nice quality coin isn't a bad price.

that coin looks similar to this one but maybe there is a standard on the reverse of yours.

If I had a paper envelope or a plastic flip to put it in, yeah I would break it out. It's not as delicate (surface-wise) as a mint state modern coin (like it won't tone ugly or anything if exposed to air). And it would feel great to hold a nearly 1800 year old coin in my hand. Just my preference.

The pics are quite crappy. Just ask if you need better ones.

What would you say it's worth, $15, $20, $25 I have absolutely no idea. Thanks for the comment.

Maybe around $10-$20, as long as it's not a rare variety. Personally I'd pay $10-12 for it.

I think you made out great if you paid around $12 for it. Thats probably the going rate. I dont really buy much off ebay or online where coins usually sell at a fixed bookprice but I usually trade or buy better uncleaned coins and clean them so I couldnt really tell you a price. Its not a huge amount of money for this nice coin so I think you did really good.

Thank you guys so much! I simply love owning this coin, it's got really nice details. My second graded coin and my second ancient coin.
