I have a question for anyone that can help: I have the opportunity to purchase an 1871 Seated Liberty half dime, VF condition. However, I do not at present have a price guide, and would like to know if anyone can provide me with some useful information on this coin, as I hadd not heard of it until just recently. Thank you.
IF it is a VF-20 or approximately that, it should be selling for about $30. However, as usual, this is really pending on what grade it really is. Way to many people say VF or EF and really mean they don't know. One of the higher minted ones at 1,873,000. Make sure it is not an S mint.
Thank you folks, for the input, and the welcomes! I'm new here (of course), so bear with me on things. I'm a-tryin! And, it is VF, had it graded, but also wanted all the opinions/options possible!
Looks like I came pretty close in guesstimating the price realized on that 1871 Half Dime; this, if one considered the total price which included shipping. The total was $14.50.
So, Norman, compare the coin you saw to this one on ebay and you may then better gauge its market value.
@ExoGuy: Got it for $9.50, no shipping as it was local. Compared it to your post, and I would say VF on mine is an acceptable grade, possibly better. Seems like I did okay. @biggffred: Thank you for the information on the price god; I am sure that wil be helpful. And to ALL: I am so very happy I found this site. Everybody has been very ready to help, and the staff has even jumped right in and helped when asked. Tyou, Tyou, Tyou!javascript:insertsmilie('')
