I have two 1/4 Dalers of Hawaii, both of them damaged, unfortunately.

With this coin,
slight wear on the eyebrow, nose and moustache,
slight weakness on the reverse lettering,
few nicks in field consistent with grade.
Odd rim damage near the date?
The '1/2 D' has some lumps of metal.

AU 55.

It would be natural to assume that these coins have been faked. How much does it weigh, and does it have the same ring tone as a standard 90% half dollar?
(no pun intended).

These Hawaii coins deserve extra scrutiny because collectors get taken by fakes.
On the reverse, the legend below the arms should read "HAPALUA". Certified ones are typically well-struck.
Rest in Peace

Dunno if genuine, but prolly xf.

Mintages:
Umi Keneta: 250,000; Melted: 79.
Hapaha: 500,000; Melted: 257,400.
Hapalua: 700,000; Melted: 612,245.
Akahi Dala: 500,000; Melted: 453,652.

So there's a maximum of 87,755 out there.

Anyone wanna fix wiki? There's "demonization", which should obviously be "demonetization".

it is weighing in light at 11.395 grams, it looks good to the naked eye, I bought it sight unseen on the phone and only paid $25.00 for it so it want be a real high price mistake.
Rest in Peace

That's bad news. No way it would be in that condition missing that much metal.

with biggfredd--that's ~9% underweight. It can't be .900 silver; it's some other alloy.
