Here is a link to the 1876-S Trade dollar that I bought yesterday. He grades it as VF-30, just would like some opinions on the coin, Thanks....

I am thinking about sending it in for slabbing when I get it, thoughts on that also would be appreciated.

A *really* nice looking example, and I think fairly bought at VF30. Star definition is lacking, but that's probably a function of strike as there's room to consider a higher grade in many of the other details. Looking forward to in-hand pics.

Having it slabbed is imperative if your intent is to resell down the road. However, you're near market price at VF30 invested already; consider that.

I think that it's a nice Trade dollar as well.

Still looking for mine.

this is a Very nice VF-30 coin and on a good day you may get a XF-40 from one of the TPG's because its on the upper end of the VF grade in my opinion

Yes, I know. The guy I bought it from said he would have it graded for around $45.00 but it would be better if I had 5 coins to send. Hoping one of the big 3 comes up with a sale.

The Trade dollar arrived today and I have one last question before I remove it from the 2X2 the seller sent it in, once I do remove it I cannot send it back.

I weighed a dollar size 2X2 with 4 staples just like it is in now and that weighed 2 grams. I weighed the Trade dollar in the 2X2 and it weighs 29 grams so the coin weighs 27 grams. I would assume that the coin is close enough to the correct weight, 27.22 grams?

Yes, that's as close as you can get doing it that way. I'd personally be comfortable removing it with those results.

I agree that it's at least a 30 and could conceivably go even higher. Nice unspoiled coin.
