TJsCoins Pillar of the Community United States 3229 Posts	Posted 02/05/2012 11:12 pm Here is my second denarius. Figured my Domitian needed his absent father to join him. I have attributed this coin as: Vespasian, as emperor IMP CAES VESP AVGVSTI, Laureate Head Rt. VICTORIA AVGVSTI, Victory standing right, Crowning standard and holding palm, Rome mint IMHO the reverse is cool! I am confused on the RIC. Found two second-hand sources. One says: RIC 52. The other says: RIC II part 1, 362. If any of you can help me properly ID the RIC # it would be appreciated. Now I gotta hunt down Titus! Report this Post to the Staff

I looked in my copy of RIC and I do not see the difference between the two RIC numbers. However, it is possible that RIC 362 may have out facing letters and reading from right to left, but I am not sure of that. Also, in looking through my resources, many of Vespasian's coins were first minted in the East when he first declared for the throne. Perhaps the difference is where the coin was struck (East vs Rome in later mintings). Sorry, but that's the best I can answer your question. Nice coin BTW. It is listed as scarce in RIC.
