I keep thinking about acquiring this iconic coin. This one is a "classical" style owl tetradrachm, minted over a century earlier than the last...c. 440 BC. I like this owl, Athena's face is better defined on this coin, and some of the crest borders the flan--which is missing on many examples. The coin has a few problems I consider minor, and very nice considering it's not much more than a corroded "base grade" tetradrachm. I'm not much of an impulse buyer, and I'll weigh the pros/cons until the decision is clear.
Thanks. First, I've been doing a lot of reading on these coins. There are an amazing amount of varieties for this coin type. I still feel like a total novice, but I know just enough to make a good buying decision. I'm looking at tets on vcoins.
