For me ... it's a treasure hunt ... with endless possibilities in that very next roll to crack.

Reality imposes itself every roll ... have never found anything truly spectacular ... but that next roll just might be it.

3 years plus of roll searching for me ... still going strong and enjoying the thrill of the hunt.

Basically to sum it up, roll searchers are gambling addicts. Instead of casinos we use rolled coins.

Ancientcoinguy -

I know what you mean. I find myself at working thinking about when can I get my next roll or I'm going to sneak out at lunch a get a roll or I can't wait to get home to the rolls.

Started a couple of years ago and going strong. I did stop the halves since dumping them was a pain and my silver finds were low. I'm a sucker for pennies still.

I'm about a month or two shy of a year. Started with nickels, added dimes a few months after I started. Started doing a few rolls of halves a couple months ago. Kind of slacked off in December and January, just wasn't feeling it and other distractions. But plan to get back at it next week.
Rest in Peace

lol, this is hilarious.

Since 1971, we used halves and dollar coins in the shop, adding $2 notes in 1976.

In related stores that could be over 50 miles away, a customer pulling out their "strange change" would be asked "have you been to Bigg Fredd's?"

This got our competition to remind them of us (top of mind recognition), and was almost as good as testimonials from other dealers. Total cost--zip.

I would think a lot of people would give up before they reach a year. The novelty can wear off quickly.

I've been roll searching for the past 6 years. I only do it a few times a year with cents, nickels, dimes, and quarters. I'm mainly looking for errors, varieties and coins to fill in folders per year and mintmark (P&D). I do save wheats, nickels before 1960, and any silver.
