Good Afternoon,

I'm a very regular and loyal reader of Coin World Magazine. I don't quite remember when I got my subscription but I know it was at least 2 or maybe 3 years ago. I have my favorite columns and I like the way the magazine is laid out and it really "speaks" to me for some reason and I love that it is a weekly magazine. I love the monthly special edition because it rolls Coin World, World Coins, Paper Money Values, and Coin Values into one magazine once a month. I don't read every article in the weekly edition or every section of the monthly special edition because I have certain interests and certain topics I find interesting enough to read about.

I recently read an older issue of The Numismatist that someone gave me and I must say I'm not a huge fan. I read maybe 3 articles because like Coin World I only have certain interests or find certain topics interesting enough to read about. Because this magazine is the ANA's magazine there is, of course, a lot of advertising for the ANA. I don't know this seemed more like a "high class" type magazine whereas Coin World seems more laid back.

What do you think?

Which magazine do you like better?

IMO, it is not really a fair comparison. A better comparison to Coin World would be Numismatic News, another weekly newspaper-style coin magazine. Both of them are commercial publications intended for a broad collecting audience. The Numismatist is a scholarly publication that features research articles, complete with footnotes and bibliography, and full color layouts. It also features many articles specific to the ANA itself, not always relevant if you are not a member.

I am a current ANA member so I receive The Numismatist but I have also subscribed to both CW and NN in past years, I think both of them are good publications containing lots of important info but they also have way too much advertising from overpriced/questionable dealers IMO.
Rest in Peace

One good point about any of them is they police their advertizers after a fashion. Even if they don't get rid of everyone we might agree are crooks, the advertisers better refund on anything returned, or they won't stay around.
