I'm interested in buying or making an offer on a 1923 half penny
but don't know if it is worth that much
what is a reasonable price for this rare coin on ebay

They go for 1000-1500 usually, but unless its a well known dealer I would stay away.

I agree with the above 2 posts,there are better problem free coins around,choose very wisely is my advice.

For this kind of coin, you need to see a reputable dealer. I know KJC, downies and Jaggards have an online store and they are extremely reputable (albeit a bit over priced in my opinion).

Certainly NOT a 'buy it now' at that price.
A lot of genuine '23's have die cracks, some do not. I always look for this. Can't see them here.

enilogram's advice is at least safe, probably the way I would go if I was buying.

It's very average for the price. You could buy one better for the same money. It looks painted. It's got verdigris. It's got decent knocks. I'm not a fan of the coin. As for it being genuine, when I see a painted 1923 all I think is has it been date altered & painted to cover it up? It's a bit rough to me.
