I have been gifted these coins in two instances from the kind people from this forum. ( You know who you are! )
I just love this series and I have at least what I think is a complete nice circulated/BU set of these and some super duplicates that include every year from 1966 to 2008. I think ?

Anyway, I am wondering what constitutes a complete set of these. If I wanted to the get proofs, it seems I need to keep going and get some back issues as well.

Did they stop making the uncirculated 5 cent Echidna coin?
I would like to make my set as complete as possible. I think a few of those I already have are hard to find.

The 1972 is hard to find
As trout said the 1985 and 1986 were not issued for circulation.
They are still making them, although currently the latest we have found in circulation is 2010.
A complete set? Well I guess it depends on your definition of a complete set. My definition is for circulating coins so a complete set (currently) would be 1966 to 2010, ex 1985 & 1986.

latman100 sent me these as a special gift and there were none missing from 1966 to 2008 and the 85 and 86 are in there too.

Question-About-The-5-Cent-Echidna-Series

I had a Secret Santa send me a cool batch of Australian coins and there are 15 nice later dated ones in here. They remained anonymous but I think I could figure out who it was. All the people from Australia I have interacted with on this forum have been spectacular members, and are a major plus for the forum. Maybe that's why I like my Australian coins so much?

I have since put these in 2x2's and in pages in my album but I haven't messed with upgrading or anything like mixing the two batches up. I would like to add to this since most of the hard work is done by others for me. I just don't have a checklist of what to look for.

Thanks, Sounds like I'll need to look for a 2009 and 2010 but I'd also like to know what proofs were made.

To add to enworb's post:
They have also made fine silver proof sets and infrequently you see the 5c piece sold individually... you would need them for a "complete complete" set of them, but I wouldn't suggest these are worthwhile.

Additionally, you could get one of the 2010 recasts of the 1966 set. There were only 400 made and the set sold for $800 from the mint. There is an ebay seller who this forum often makes fun of who sells the 5c for $40,000+ if you're interested ;) - you could be his first sucker!

I already have a 1966 ... why would I want a cheap imitation like that?

I think I may just try to get a nice proof example and maybe catch up with the other 2009 and 2010 in BU. If I get lucky sometime and find a bunch of different proofs for sale, maybe I'll grab them and try for all the proofs if it seems to be an attainable goal.
