Quote: You've got to wonder if the lab workers don't carry out their work under the unwitting command of the toxoplasmosa gondii already in their brains. I always figured I just had mad cow from that whimsical bout of cannibalism I had while living among a nice little tribe of head-hunters in Papua New Guinea as a disillusioned malcontent twenty-something. Dear old Mom said it was just a phase... But... thanks a lot, Hawk! Now I know I'm a zombie.

Yep. The newscaster said he was high on "bath salts". Who knew Epson Salts were not only an awesome additive to a good, long, hot soaking but also a powerful psychotropic drug that can make people hallucinate that raw face is some sort of well prepared, restaurant-quality filet mignon? ;)

I saw one of those intervention shows on A@E with a real successful preppy golf range driver from an up scale family who thought using the bath salts would help him with his focus, now he talks to people who are not there an is addicted to again, BATH SALTS....
I feel little pity when Darwin kicks into action, just is what it is. Like my thick headed angry bitter old man has always said, he did get this one right...."If your gonna be dumb, you better be tough.". lol....

No worries on the dormant zombie virus as well T, ya got nothing to worry about in my estimation.... If one thinks about life at the smallest level cellular, you see that there is indeed a high power in charge. Call it intelligent design, God, or whatever. No matter how much you may want blackness an RIP when this life ends forever, you will not get it. Instead most likely I figure get tossed right back into the mixer of life, be it on this world or one like it, either in this dimension, or like Yoda said in reference to Luke's family...."There is another", lol.... If God or the intelligent design ever wants to pull the plug on us, the virus will mutate an humans will like so many before us, become extinct.... A fictional stories I once read and also watched the movie made from the book made as most sense as any. In the film the main character Prot was played by Kevin Spacey, via the movie K-pax. He was a visitor from that planet, K-pax, an Jeff bridges is the head shrink trying to prove his story is nothing more than disillusion. Very well done film, an great series of books, an the clever authors name escapes me now, but I will get back with his name later.... Anyhow Spacey's character says something most interesting at the films end in narration form..... "Prot: The universe will expand, then it will collapse back on itself, and then it will expand again. It will repeat this process forever. What you don't know is that when the universe expands again, everything will be as it is now. What ever mistakes you make this time around, you will live through on your next pass. Every mistake you make...you will live through...again and again, forever. So my advice to you is to get it right this time around, because this time...is all you have."

As a scientist, I am sometimes asked, "How can you believe in God?". My reply is, "Knowing what I know, how can I not?". There is FAR too much order in this universe to have "just happened". Systems that "just happen" are highly disordered, extremely chaotic, barely function at the microscopic level, and completely incapable of attaining a high degree of ordered development. Not that we don't have our problems or that most of them aren't self-inflicted, of course. As to silver... keep stackin' brothers and sisters. Silver prices of less than $30 an oz. are gifts that should be accepted.

Quote: Thats EXACTLY what I told my girlfriend today. :) Good job, SCB. Did she listen to you on that? If she did, it's a really good sign. Most ladies aren't into precious metals, unless it is as jewelry. THEN they get excited about it. Gosh, you're making me blush!

She was all for it, and even said she wish she understood more about it. So I educated her a little more! She doesn't have a problem with me spending my checks on Silver :)

She sounds like a real gem; truly a fine young lady and a worthy life-long partner. Hey, not everything of great value is of monetary value. Some things are... well, priceless!

I'd argue that this is typical teleocentric thinking though. We are, so there must be meaning to us being here. There's no problem with that until this type of thinking empowers one group of people do stuff that negatively/unwanted-ly affects another group. The reverse, which is that there are disproportionally much much MUCH more disorder in the universe to think anything that happens on this ol'blue spec of a plant has anything to do with anything. Accepting this doesn't mean I have to unhappy though. I am plenty upbeat when the missus asked me "why don't I see you buying any more silver coins lately, the prices are good aren't they?". To which I replied "I love you baby" :)
