This weekend I picked up my first silver bar at my coin shop. It was a one of those 4 ounce bars that look like bills. I paid 1 dollar over spot for the bar.

So far this is the lowest I have paid for silver over spot. Ordering online and buying on ebay have proved to be more than a dollar over spot once you figure in shipping costs.

I am curious to know what everyone pays for for silver over spot? I think I got a good deal, but I am always on the lookout for a better deal if there is any.

Occasionally when the silver price is really volatile I'll pay as low as .5% below spot for 90% junk silver. Private label rounds, around .50 cents over. ASE's and SML's $1.50 over.

The problem is finding volume. Most of my best deals are for very limited purchases.

Paid $30 a piece for these. That's about at low as I ever get, anymore, for 1 oz. .999 silver, I think.

I like to use SilverTowne because they have free shipping on what I order.

999 bullion - at 20% premium or more.
900-925 silver (junk, commemorative, proofs, etc) sometimes at 30% discount. Sometimes because I got too many of this silver and trading it for pure bullion.

I have been paying about $1.25 over per ounce for AMARK, APMEX, Englehard, JPM, and Libertads.

Been soaking it up.

the only silver I hoard is junk silver coins I find in rolls, change, tills, etc. I may have the date already in my collection but acquiring any silver coin at face value is always a good feeling :)

For recognized bullion rounds I pay a 12% premium (in part because it has a guaranteed buyback spread)

For unrecognized rounds (sterling) I have paid an average of $13.50 over the past year with the latest pickup costing $15.50/oz of ASW.

For me the best deals are though my LCS. However, of the major online dealers, I tend to rely on Provident Metals or Goldmart for the lowest commissions. APMEX also runs great specials but you have to follow their Twitter feed and keep dry powder ready for unexpected opportunities.

I also picked up some more 90% silver today for right at spot. My junk silver stack alone is now over 55 oz total silver weight! Woohoo!
