I have this Steel penny in my collection and I have seen on the forum that they can be re-coated. I have had the coin for several years and was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is original and what grade it is. Is there a way I can tell if it was re-coated?
Replated tend to look like a shiny bumper, this does not. If the rims look different, it's prolly original, since they weren't plated before the blanks were punched. A replate has similar color on both sides and edge.
