Firstly, purely for fun... I'm not starting this to discuss ethics or anything like that. But this is from the movie "Tower Heist" with eddie murphy... so if you plan on watching it, dont read lol

But I finished watching Tower Heist, which was pretty funny... not a great movie, but funny, and at the end of the movie you find out the main guy has melted millions of dollars worth of gold and made car parts for a very rare care which he had in his apartment.

The car was painted so no one could tell... but by the end of the movie the people who stole it (the guy who had the gold was a bad guy who stole all the money) chopped up the parts and gave it to the people who lost their pensions to make up for it.

Now I was thinking... how would a poor guy, with not a lot of income be able to make use of a giant wheel made out of solid gold? I guess you could send it to a refinery in small pieces over a long time. Those companies usually take like 10%... But I would figure the IRS would be interested in millions of dollars going into your bank account.

Just a fun thought that only PM people would think about when watching those kinds of movies! Of course I hope this isn't breaking any rules her talking about this kind of stuff

"I'd get it one piece at a time
And it wouldn't cost me a dime
You'll know it's me when I come through your town
I'm gonna ride around in style
I'm gonna drive everybody wild
'Cause I'll have the only one there is a round."

I would probably break it down into small chunks and divvy it up that way, over a long period of time. Pour the molten metal in some irregular shaped sand molds (nugget style) so it doesn't raise suspicion. Everybody has some "friends in low places" who could assist. I would get by "with a little help from my friends".

It's not too hard to melt gold. Completely do-able in the garage with the right, not too expensive, equipment. I'd buy a coin press and go to town minting me own coins :)

With so many "cash for gold" places popping up in malls and strip malls, it won't be hard to get cash in small quantities of gold numerous times. With a giant chunk of gold, the abysmal rates these thieves take won't matter much either.

I think I'd start designing, making and selling jewelry.

Hmmmm....Maybe one of these would be nice:

Solid Gold Toilet
One of the most expensive toilets in the world can be found in Hong Kong in the Hang Fung Gold Technology showroom. The 24 carat gold toilet is on display in the company's Hall of Gold. While the price of gold has been quickly on the rise, jewelry tycoon and entrepreneur Lam Sai-wing refuses to melt the solid gold toilet. He has stated "I don't care if gold hits $10,000 an ounce". Lam Sai-wing made a smart investment when gold was only $200 per ounce. Other items in the hall of gold, including a gold sink, gold chandelier, and gold horse-drawn chariot, are all being melted down. The toilet is also listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as "The Most Expensive Toilet in the World".

A propane torch will melt gold. Anytime you needed money just fire up the torch and melt off a glob then take it to the gold buyer in the mall, coin shop, pawn broker, jewelry shop. Spread the wealth around and tell them you make custom gold jewelry and these are your mistakes.
