Hi,

I've found after shooting lots of pics from my collection that my copper pics never seem to turn out quite right. In most cases, they come out too dark and not as I see the coin in hand. I'm using two Ott lights and a Nikon D40x DSLR on a tripod. I'm running on aperature mode with my f-stop set around 7.0 for most pictures.

Any pointers on how to improve my pics? Does the background need to be changed? Are my lights good or do I need to invest in something else - such as the Jansjo. Any settings that I should change?

Thanks for looking and any help/pointers!

The Two Cent Piece looks like it was shot raw and the Half Cent was in a 2x2 Mylar holder, I find removing the coin from the holder if possible is the way to go, as the Mylar or plastic will leave hot spots in areas. I'm re-shooting about 200 Morgans right now for sale, having to trash all my old holders! Oh well it will be worth it in the long run!
