I recently purchased this city commemorative based solely on the quality condition. However, I am unable to identify the mintmark and was hoping some better/younger eyes might be able to make it out. I appreciate your looking at it.

Nice coin.
It's hard to read, but from the style it looks to be Constantinople that would be CONSZ or CONSIA. Probably CONSZ on this one. The Z sometimes looks like an H or kinda like a box.
When I get home I'll post a picture of a CONSZ.

Thanks everyone. I think I can make out "_ _ NS_", so I think you are correct that it is Constantinople. Thanks too for the comments on this coin. Again, I was attracted to it because of the condition, especially the obverse. To me, it almost looks like it never saw circulation. At the very least the wear on the obverse is very minimal. Oh, and the price was right.

Looking closer, could that last symbol be the Greek Gamma?

Yes it could be now that you mention it. I forgot About CONS Gamma. That would be an R5 if it is. I've never seen one.

This coin finally arrived today. It is every bit as beautiful as the seller's images. I was able to take a closer look at the mintmark, and I'm fairly certain it is "CONSZ" like Doucet said in the first place. Thanks for all the help

Here is a comparison of the portraits of Constantinopolis from a couple of different mints. You can see that the ones from Constantinople have a similar style distinct from the others. I'm not showing all the mints, but you get the idea. Some mints look pretty close to the same and are hard to tell where they're from just from the portrait. For me anyway.
