Strange Coin I Found. I Think Its An Indian Presidency Coin.

13thvulture New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 02/16/2012 6:55 pm i found my old coin collection, and in in a very strange coin about the size and color of a penny, but in a language I cant really identify. doing some research the best match I could find were indian presidency coins, but I couldnt identify this exact one, or even figure out much about this one. that's the one. both sides photographed. any idea what coin this is? DCH Pillar of the Community United States 645 Posts	Posted 02/16/2012 9:54 pm Flan, plan, planchet...the metal disc that is struck to become a coin. For this coin the dies used were larger than the planchet, so not all of the coin design is present. If the planchet were equal to the dies, the date would be at the top of your first picture. I looked up the coin you mentioned and noticed it lacked the line going through the middle like both sides of this one have.
