Here is a coin from my FILs collection that is marked 10 Milliemes, and the arabic seems to indicate 1277 AH as the date (1860 AD) Is this 10 Para or 10 millieme? Can you advise the km#?

THANKS!

Egypt km#249. 40 Para (Qirsh). Date AH1277 regnal year 10 = 1869. The value? You could be looking at $600 to $1,000+ (depending on grade - sorry I'll leave that to real experts).

I would like to disagree (ever so slightly) about the date of this coin. The AH calendar is tricky enough, and those regnal years too ... The AH 1277 started on July 20, 1960, but Abdul Aziz has not acceded till the very end of it, on June 25, 1861.
So I think his regnal year 10 covered some of AD 1870 and some of 1871. I'd file it under 1870.

That's an Ottoman coin made in Egypt at Sultan Abdulaziz period. 10 copper para. And the year is 1858.

I respectfully disagree with the date and the denomination. The 10 on top of the first image is the "regnal" year of the sultan. The denomination, 40 para, is under the toughra, the bottom pic.
The ascension year is AH 1277 which started on July 20, 1960 1860 which makes the date of 1858 impossible.

Edit: I copied and pasted the year from my post above and that made me realize I was off by a century!

http://www.islamicity.com/prayertim...ijriconv.asp

it says 1860-61. I ve answered as 1858 sorry for that. I ve been trying to calculate quickly.

and you re right it's 40 para. it's the 10th mint in 1277 for 40 para.
