I have been very lucky and have found many War Nickels while roll searching but they are almost always very dark (almost black) it would be nice to find one from time to time that is as shiny as those pictured above, just looks weird having those really dark nickels in my danso with all the other hole fillers that are nice and pretty.

Still pondering what to do, but, seriously thinking about a capital holder included in a shadowbox with my dad's purple heart and a couple of cool pictures of him overseas as an infantryman. I also have somewhere his DD214 that might look good. Oh yea, having the front page of a newspaper framed from July 1923, headlining President Hardings death (big picture) and Calvin Coolidge presidential transition, special part---it has my dad's birth announcement in it! Oh yea, my dad is still alive, he is 89 and could still whip my behind .... if he could catch me.

Gonna do it, going with the shadowbox idea with pics, purple heard and coins. I have already got pics of my mom and dad on their wedding day (dad in his uniform), dad outside a barracks somewhere and my mom's hot pic. Also got the purple heart and will be getting my dads discharge papers in a couple of weeks. The next issue is the coins. I have decided on capital holders, but, it will take two sets to show the obv and rev; at all ms66, that gets into a chunck of money. Oh well, I think it will be pretty cool and I know my dad will like it. By the way, short story, my dad had only known and dated my mom for only two weeks when he when he left Birmingham, Alabama for Camp Rucker (in south Al) for deployment overseas. He went awol on Friday night, married my mom on Saturday and was back at Camp Rucker on Sunday. He shipped out on Tuesday and was overseas for 28 months. My grandmother swears she had to point my dad out to my mom when he got off the train in Birmingham. Must have been something special, they have been married for 67 years.
