I bought this in a small lot of coins today, I think its a Mark Antony Legionary Denarius. If it is what is its approximate value?

Thanks!

Although I really hope that this is not the case, it almost looks as though there is a seam along the edges of this coin. Would it be possible for you to post some pictures of the edges?

unfortunately I wont be able to take a picture of the edge until tommorrow evening, but it looks to me as if the hammer struck each side off center (i assume this is a hammered coin no?)

it does look like a seam and the features all seem soft. But before we condemn this coin, lets wait for better images.

If it's a copy it is done very well. Will wait to see better pictures.

I have cobbled together XOG's coin and the copy from here as a comparison.
I have arrowed some flaws/marks that correspond on each coin, notably that cavity that cuts through the eagle. I think the legends match too.

DVC: Very good detective work. I looked at that coin earlier, but thought I'd wait to see better images. Now there is no need in my mind. The OP coin is a fake with no doubt in my mind.

Thanks JW--I threw that together to answer some questions--I guess they're answered, huh?
Shame it's a copy.

Any idea if this particular issue of fake is silver? It may have some melt value at least

I would doubt it, but, hey, check it out. You never know, right? Sorry this wasn't real. For a time I was collecting the Legionary Denarius of Marcus Antonius, but I have really slowed here of late. Too many coins in too many directions.
