My Dad received this coin as a gift in 1970, from a medical colleague who apparently was a coin dealer on the side. His name was Larry Brody and he lived in West Los Angeles. Anyone ever heard of him?

Anyway, at the time the coin would presumably have been worth bullion value, about $15. Pretty good appreciation since then I guess! It looks like an unmolested MS coin with no wear or serious marks. Luster should maybe be a little stronger but I don't know the normal luster characteristics of sovereigns. Weight is 8.01 grams. Lack of a mintmark above the date I presume means it is a London mint product.

What are your thoughts on grade, quality, and value? Thanks!

London mint was striking these babies with the frozen date of 1925 till 1952 as the coins changed their role from circulating coins to bullion. So the catalog just says "bullion value".
Good looking coin though!
Rest in Peace
