Sap Moderator Australia 16829 Posts	Posted 02/21/2012 04:56 am No, it's not from the 1983 issue, it's a "sixth series" 1979 issue. The "seventh series" 1983 issue was printed, but never issued - it was held "in reserve" in case a sudden major banknote replacement was required (by, for example, a sudden spate of counterfeiting). The entire print run of the seventh series was destroyed. The current Swiss note series is the "eighth series", introduced gradually in the mid-1990s. Switzerland has a twenty-year, two-stage banknote withdrawal system. For twenty years after a note design is formally withdrawn and replaced, the notes are no longer legal tender, but they can still be exchanged at the Swiss National Bank for full face value. After the twenty-year deadline expires, the notes can no longer be exchanged and retain collector value only. The expiry date of your note is 30th April 2020.
