What is the significance of dot after year on a Pakistan anna?

maybe because arabs write from left to right but latin alphabet is from right to left? just a guess.

I believe it denotes the Bombay mint.

But 1949 is after Independence, so how can it be Bombay mint? Is there any other mint for Pak coins other than Lahore soon after Independence?

The ones with dot after date were minted at the British Royal Mint in London. The rest were minted in Lahore.
