Just wondering how you would rate this Half Dollar, found in an old box of family coins. Looks as if it's been cleaned in the past and bagged to stop silver tarnishing. Looked on ebay but most of the ones sold on there were in a worse condition.
Would you think 'extra fine' was a good guess? Milling around the edge appears to be unworn. Sorry for the reflections in the pictures.
Thanks, Mike.

I can't tell if it's been cleaned or not- but it has AU details.

Someone get me some shades, I can't see anything other than the shine reflecting off this coin!

No really, I am going to go out on a limb here and say this one may have been polished and then for good measure, dipped a couple of times. Just my opinion...

Funny, I still like the coin though...

Sorry for ruining your eyesight FlipOfACoin; I did it with the normal flash set up not realising it would reflect so much. The set up works on 99% of coins.

Thanks all for your grading; it doesn't look as if it's been circulated, probably straight from the bank and put in a drawer. I've no idea where it originally came from unless it was given to one of my ancestors over here in the UK during the war from a visiting GI. A nice find for my collection; not too worried about it's value.

Thanks again,

Mike.

MS63 if no wear spots on the high areas otherwise AU-58 - super looking coin but flash will kill the look of a coin in photography.

No worries mate, just poking a bit fun at you... After a couple of tours in the desert, the old eyes are pretty sensitive to bright light. By the way, had a lot of fun with some of your crazy chaps in the British 1st Armored Division, while chasing the bad guys around the desert.
