This coin was given to me by a friend.
I am no expert on this series but I think I see indications of a 6 around the date area. Can anyone here tell me if it is a 1916 or not.

I agree, 1917, based on the shield, incuse wall lines and hair curls.

Yep 1917 but as to a D or S mint mark you're on your own there!
