Hi everybody, Picked up a nice batch of mainly Greek and Roman Colonial coins recently. I'm really not great with ID on these types, I've made a start but hit a bit of a wall. No doubt these will be easy ones for some of you! Coin 1. 14.37 grams , 28mm Coin 2. 31.73 grams, 34mm Coin 3. 12.09 grams, 23mm Coin 4. 38.86 grams, 35mm Coin 5. 14.81 grams, 25mm Any info on type/ date/ scarity / value or any other comments appreciated! Have put another 5 or so on a second posting. Thanks. www.kingstoncoincompany.co.uk

2 and 4 are Ptolemaic; 3 is a nice tetradrachm of Trajan from Alexandria; 1 looks like Philip I from Antioch.

Here is one similar to the first coin I think. Philip II, July or August 247 - late 249 A.D., Antioch, Syria Bronze AE 32, BMC Syria p. 219, 566 ff., VF, Antioch mint, 17.477g, 28.9mm, 180°, 247 - 249 A.D.; obverse AΥTOK K M IOΥAI ΦIΛIΠΠOC CEB, laureate and draped bust right, from behind; reverse ANTIOXEΩN MHTΡO KOΛΩN , veiled turreted bust of Tyche right, ∆-E and S-C across fields, ram above

Coin 5 almost looks like Roman provincial Spain.

Could coin #5 possibly be this one? Try to read the letters in the ex. on reverse. I can't quite make them out. The weight of yours is a little lighter. CENTRAL EUROPEAN CELTS. Bratislava Region. The Boii. Biatec. Mid to late first century BC. Silver hexadrachm (17.13 gm). Jugate male heads right, the left wearing laurel wreath, the right helmeted, ivy leaf to right, scalloped border / BIATEC, rider galloping hippogriff right, holding branch in right hand, scalloped border. Göbl, Die Hexadrachmenprägung der Gross-Boier, II/1(3). Paulsen 718-742. CCCBM I 242. Ondrouch 25-118. Scroll down a bit on this page to see some examples: http://www.acsearch.info/search.htm...&c=&a=&l=#16

Doucet, it sure looks similar--if not a match.

Thank you all for the comments and help. Seems like I've got all these pinned down now, indeed Doucets got it 100% with the Bratislava region Celtic coin I've not had confirmed. Found several similar coins to the Trajan Tetradrachm, no 100% match yet but only a matter of time. I have to admit I really like the big Ptolemaic bronzes, tempted to keep them a while longer than the rest!
