It's early Byzantine. The "E" is the denomination, the Greek numeral 5. It's a pentanummium of Anastasius I. Constantinople mint, fourth officina (delta mintmark). See this Wildwinds page, scroll down to near the bottom, number SB 29.

nice coin...nothing to add to the information sap has given to you,I like very much byzantine coins an pentanummium,I have one of justin I put it here,as you can see there's always the E on the reverse....
