Hi folks. I know very very little about coins and am not really a serious collector. I collect the odd coin if I like it or find it interesting. Today at work I opened a roll of loonies and was surprised to find mostly all Roughrider loonies. I found it strange to find that many rider loonies in a roll so long after they were released but what I found even stranger was that two of the loonies were a lot more golden colour then the others but only on one side. One was on the bust side and the other on the Rider logo side. Has anybody heard of a mistake like this? I could be totally wrong but they are clearly a darker gold on one side. Thanks for your time. Cheers!

I realize it is hard to weigh in with no pic. I am trying to take a good pic but I can't seem to get the right lighting or something to photograph these coins. I'm also not sure how to add a photo?

Just a quick question. Were the two loonies at the ends of the roll? If so, then it's probably some toning. It doesn't take long for a loonie to get discoloured.

There is a 'Free Image Optimizer' available here and it works remarkably well. Just follow the prompts and the optimizer will downsize the image file to a manageable size.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply staircase! To be honest I didn't notice where they were in the roll..I just opened it up dumped it then noticed the two coins. What you have said about the toning makes sense though. That could be what it is, I'd be a little disappointed as I was hoping I found something really special. I'll see if I can figure out the photo thing in the next couple of days. Cheers!

Right littlemoney, which was kind of my thought at first that maybe there was some mistake and they only plated half the coin or something. Like I said before I am the furthest thing from a coin expert it was just an idea at the time. Anyway now that the coins seeing the light of day for awhile the difference in colour is not as noticable. Oh well maybe I'll find something cool next time. I'm a Rider fan so i'll hang onto them for now anyway. Cheers!
