Canadian pennies from 1981 and earlier have mostly copper, and have an approximate intrinsic value of 2.5 cents per penny. 1982-1996 are lighter but still mostly copper and have about 2 cents intrinsic value per penny. Here is more specific info: 1920-1941 95.5% copper 3.24 grams 1942-1979 98% copper 3.24 grams 1980-1981 98% copper 2.80 grams 1982-1996 98% copper 2.50 grams Report this Post to the Staff
