Just a normal market climb. You certainly look smart if you bought just a short time back when it was under $30.
Don't worry it will get back there this year again but it may hit over the high of last year first.

I get my yearly bonus TOMORROW. I KNEW this was going to happen damnit....I'm happy for the silver I already own, but not sure I'll be getting all I had planned to get :(
Mkfarm, perhaps it will drop down bellow $30 again...I started buying it when it was $26 and it's been going up every since I started buying. So I didn't experience the high and the drop last year - but my fear is it may not come back down again or if it does it could be just for a short period. Put me in the camp that thinks it may well hit $60 or more this year and stay. I don't care if it is up, can't control when I get that bonus and don't want to find out later I missed out on a window. I'm buying all I can in the next couple of days.

Probably the best buy now for collectible silver are the 5 oz uncirculated coins for 204.95

Well I stopped at one of my regular places today with bonus in hand and took what he had - wasn't as much as I wanted so going to hit up a couple of other places this weekend. My hauls was $45.55 FV (9 Peace, 3 Morgans, $11 in Franklins, $21.50 in Walkers, the rest in misc small stuff) for less than 26 times face which with todays price isn't bad. Also picked up 7 older ASE's (1-'86, 1-'92, 1-'94, 1'98, 2-'99, and 1-'01) for $38.50 each. And lastly 4 more Morgans. In the US Mint black paper sliders/covers and airtight holders - 1880-S, and 2 1889's) and also a nicely toned '97-S for $32 ea. No tax, out the door. Maybe not steals at todays prices but not bad deals either. Come on $60 ounce silver prices (not till after I have a few hundred ounces stashed though please) :) Earl

Nice haul Earl, fire us up some pics please if possible?
Silver is showing some serious stubborness today, as gold P & P are all down a wee bit, but holding ground, while silver keps trying to gain 6 to 10 cents on the day....
Huge for silver, holding that ground over 35 bucks now perhaps, heading into the weekend.....

I'll try to take some pics when I get home tonight...good coin photos is definitely an art that I haven't mastered yet. I'm curious about the US Mint packaging..I've never ordered from them so havn't seen it before (am assuming it is from them and not some 3rd party but you never know. The front sleave has the US seal in silver along with United States of America Genuine U.S. Mint Coinage. The coins are in a holder in a card inside the sleave - viewable from both sides. I'm not a numismatist by any means (really just a silver accumulator) but the coins look mint state to me.

Little silver digi camera picture advice, tilt that camera at a slight angle to prevent flash on the coins....

Good advice, Hawk. I too am still learning to take coin photos but find that I get better pics with my digi-cam if I use a "day-light" kind of bulb in a lamp instead of a flash. The flash always adds a lot of blue tones to the pics that the yellow bulb does not, so I turn the flash off and try to use a more natural looking kind of light. Sun-light works real well too but is in short supply around here at this time of the year. :-/ Sounds like you made a nice haul, Earl. I know what you mean about 26x face for silver coins. That seems higher than where it has been recently but considering that silver is over $35 now, that's really not too bad at all. Besides... with a long term / dollar cost averaging approach, what we are now paying for silver will look pretty darned cheap if silver to gold ratio drops to 15-20 instead of hanging around 50 or so. I went to a gun show with my son last weekend and we had some great dad-son time with that. I saw quite a few coins for sale there too but the prices were not a bit better than what can be had via Provident or APMEX so I didn't buy any. I did find a VERY nice new Saiga Russian-made AK rifle at a good price, though. I was all set to dicker with them on it but noticed that it was the last one they had. The price was still good, so I bought it... and 500 rounds of TULA ammo to feed it. Need to get out to the range and try this bad boy out!

Going to a gun show tomorrow Ed, need to get me a good AR carbine.
I'll be watching that gold silver ratio from now on. I don't want to spend $1800 an ounce for gold, but if/when I can trade silver at a rate of even 25 to one - I'm doing it to get a few ounces.

Quote: Going to a gun show tomorrow Ed, need to get me a good AR carbine. Sounds good, Earl. Good luck with your shopping. My son is an AR fan and has a couple of them. I like the rifle but the .223 round doesn't do much for me. I really prefer the 7.62 x 39 round of the AK type rifles. Besides that, the AK round is legal for deer hunting here and the .22 center-fire rounds are not. Not that I am planning to hunt with this rifle but I could if I wanted to do that. It's good to have options. Quote: I'll be watching that gold silver ratio from now on. My silver hoard is getting pretty decent these days, so if the S/G ratio drops to around 25:1, I would be very interested in trading some Ag for Au. It would be pretty cool to pick up 10 oz. or so that way.

According to my last calculation a day or so back, that G to S ratio is right dead smack on 50 to 1....
I expect one day hear soon when zero of us least expect it, that ratio gap is gonna close fast to about 30 to 1 or so, maybe 25 or 20 even before it is all said an done....

That is good if you want to sell or swap silver for gold. Not good really if you still want to buy
