Whoa! That is the worst (for wear) 14-D that I have seen.

Both have been cleaned recently, IMO.

LIBERTY looks weird on the first one, "TY" seems to have dropped out of alignment.

The lettering seems to be on a diet (thin lettering and numbers) on the second one.

with oih82w8. The 'TY' does appear to be out of alignment on the first coin and very nice details on the reverse. As for the second coin, I can't say much because I don't even have one 1914-D.

1 - VF details, harshly cleaned, questionable authenticity
2 - FR details, corroded and cleaned

Thanks for the honest opinions. I inherited both of these coins. If they have been cleaned it has been over 20 years ago.

The 1st one doesn't look 'right' the "D" doesn't either, don't like the 'ty' dropping off like that.

The 2nd one can't seem to see the wheat stalks for a grade.

I recall the BE and BER are in a variety of their own.

Interesting. The photos here are taken with a microscope. In all the pictures, the top photo is the first 1914-D (of questionable origin or a variety), the middle is the second 1914-D (of poor quality reverse), the bottom is of a 1913-D I had.

with cleaning, but figgered it was a while back.

I'm not sure of either, the top one does have the correct die crack, but the Ds should look like the 13D.
