Here is another coin I would like some help with. I just uncovered a number of ancient coins that I picked up years ago, and never made any notes, so I've completely forgotten what they are.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is one of those things you just have to accept when using RIC IX which seems to have felt such strangeness necessary more than did the authors of other volumes. RIC 30d were coins like this struck before the death of Gratian while 42b were made after that date (25 Aug 383). I suppose if you spread out a large number of these coins from all of the co-emperors that issued the type, you might see some stylistic pattern that would suggest a coin is early or late in the span by finding characteristics that never show on Gratian coins but listing the second group again with a new number seems a bit much. RIC IX is not the worst volume (that would be V) but it really needs to be redone.

Nice example Carleroo.

Well centered and a nice strike. Legends and mint mark are clear and the patina is very appealing.

I would say this coin would sell for an absolute minimum of $40 US but likely a bit higher in the 50 to 60 range.
