Hey guys, just need some suggestions, I want to do a few things but being young I don't have very much cash and my dad has put enough money into my stash I don't want to hassle him.

I want to do a complete unc decimal set, I am also trying to get as many mint sets as possible + I need to buy silver ! My priority is silver, but I prefer to mix it up, with the decimal set I will noodle for unc coins but if I have to I will buy them, hoping my kids will take them and be grateful.

What should I do? Thanks

The only way to get truly uncirculated coins will be through mint sets.

Not really, I found a mint 1982 20c the other day, and a few aUnc-Unc $1 coins, they don't have to be gem, just aUnc +.

Sory I thought you meant uncirculated. Most dates prior to 1980 will be near impossible to find in aUNC I think.

I found a 72 50c in aUnc, same as a 73 50c, and a 76 50c uncirculated.

It seems a number of the earlier commemoratives - 77 Jubilee & 82 Games in particular - were hoarded and it's not too difficult to pull superior grades from circulation.

As for other years, I would have to agree with enworb in saying that pre-80's are exceedingly rare to find in aUnc condition, so you have obviously been fortunate in finding a few.

Picking up a few cheap/damaged uncirculated sets when you can get them would certainly help complete your collection.

I might get like sets of coins or noodle for coins such as, jubilee x 20 and get a bit of premium ontop? I have around 40 2001 federation coins but recent ebay sales show that they only sell for $1-$1.50, with only 2 mill made, not worth it. Also found a 1987 50c noodling which I see sold for $22 circulated recently. Also have a few 1985 50c and 1993 50c, but they are low mintage and even for $15 I wouldn't sell them.

I'll just say...look look look & you will find.
I found a Canberra Mint Mark 1995 Waltzing Matilda $1 in $80 of $1 the other day. Also in that bunch was a 2008 Rabbit Ears (a big example).
Anything goes, but if you're after sets, you're more likely to get decent $1 & $2 since they;ve only been around since 1984 & 1988 respectively.

The 1993 and 1985 aren't selling for much lately. The first few I sold I was getting around $15 but now its about $5. Considering they're so hard to find the prices are relatively low. I wont sell anymore of them because they will have to go up later. I've found 3 1985, 2 in 1 bag! and I've found 9 1993.

1987 is an awesome find of yours!

The 20 cents will be your biggest hassle
1986,87,88,89,90,91,and 92 only came out in mint packs.
the 1983,84 were recalled so they are as scarce as hens teeth, I got mine from proof packs.
that's a total of 8 mint packs to buy

The 2 dollars seem to be the easiest to collect.
Only the 1991 came in mint packs
