This is my firt post to this forum, I'm a bit baffled to what the coin is and quite weird how I received it....i bought something of ebay, got a email from ebay telling me the item was fake and they advised me to get a refund so I did and they said if I received my item to send it back, few days later I got my money back and I received my item but it turned out it wasnt what I asked for it was this coin, so still I sent it back and emailed the seller telling him, but three weeks later the coin was returned to me I tried lookin for the seller but he had deleted his account so I could never get back intouch with him and I have had the coin for around a year....so could someone please help me with identifying it.

I believe it's a medal commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Republic of China.

It is actually a coin that was struck at the Tianjin mint in 1936 (25th year of the Republic) and worth the equivalent of ten copper coins.

However, only trial versions of the coin were produced and none ever circulated so they are very rare.

Authentic coins were only made of "red copper" so your specimen is obviously a reproduction. There are many "fakes" of this coin.

An authentic coin would easily be worth more than US$10,000.

Even if this coin is not authentic, it is still definitely a 'keeper'. It is nevertheless quite educational.
Just put in a 2 x 2, and write it up fully.

I am not sure what "name" is used in the English language coin catalogs or if the coin is even included.

The Chinese refer to it as the "25th year of the Republic of China (1936), ping character (å¹³), golden harvest, ten copper coin".

As far as searching and not being able to find it, a fairly good "fake" specimen may be seen at this Chinese website.

There is also an entry for the coin in the Baidu Library.

The coin actually has a very interesting history, which is too much to discuss here, but involves the Japanese invasion of north China and Chiang Kai-shek being forced to move the government from the Beiping-Tianjin area. The ping (å¹³) character on the coin refers to Beiping.
