Oh boy. It's been a while since I've had something like this happen to me. I suppose I was overdue...

I purchased this coin:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAP...p=true&rt=nc

but when I opened the package today, this is the coin I got :

Frustrating-Ebay-Seller-Mix-Up

The seller currently has an auction going for the coin they sent me:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/260966119578?ru=http://www.ebay.com:80/sch/i.html%3F_from=R40&_trksid=p4712.m570.l1313&_nkw=260966119578&_sacat=See-All-Categories&_fvi=1&_rdc=1

Basically, they got the two coins mixed up. I just sent the seller an email so we'll see how this goes. I'm hoping they will see the error of their ways and make this fix as painless as possible.

I'll keep you posted...

Contact the seller and arrange to have it sent back!

Yes, try to work with the seller and assume it was an honest mistake. If you have any problems, then contact ebay and/or PayPal.

Ouch! Hope it works out for you and you get the coin you won. I had something similar happen to me recently. I bought a Roman coin online, and I ended up getting a different coin of the same emperor that they had listed also. I contacted them about the mistake and mailed back the coin, hoping that they would send the one I bought. I then received an email from the seller saying that they couldn't find the original coin I ordered, so they gave me a refund. Either they couldn't find the coin from the start and sent me the other as a sort of replacement or something, or they honestly got the two listings mixed up and when I emailed them about what happened, they searched for the coin and couldn't find it. The seller was reasonable and easy to work with, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and believe it was the second possibility.

I'm inclined to think it was indeed an honest mistake since it's obvious they had at least two coins of the same date. We'll see how they respond. I figure I'll give them a couple days first to respond. If that's unsuccessful, then I'll have no choice but to file an Item Not as Described dispute.

Ultimately, the most I'll be out is a few bucks to ship it back, so I'm not worried about the monetary part of it, but it's still a headache.

Though at least it feels better now that I've vented about it!

If I'm looking at the other auction correctly it ends today. As an auction winner from this seller you should be able to get contact information (i.e...phone number). At least I know you use to be able to get that info. With that other auction ending today I would think you would want to avoid a situation where the seller ships your coin to the other auction winner. I would hope the seller has contacted you by now.

Update:

The seller has been very responsive and it looks like this is going to get resolved without any issues. I sent the coin back to him with Delivery Confirmation and he said he would send me the right coin.

So far, so good!
