This coin is described as a Domitian/Commagene dupondius but I'm unable to match it up.

Can anyone help with an attribution?

This is an interesting coin especially the way the legend is layed out on the obverse/reverse. The references I've checked so far only show this legend on the obverse and not split between both sides. Hopefully some one will come up with a match.

This is an unusual one. It is RIC II 816. A.D. 73-74.

Yep, you found it MartiVltori.

I looked on acsearch for quite awhile and didn't come up with it. Under Vespasian and Domitian.

Thanks very much.

yeah it was kind of a bugger to find. I looked on wildwinds and not listed there. (although they have the wrong coin listed under 816). Then I just looked it up in my copy of ERICII, and then I was also able to find a single example on acsearch.info by just searching on the inscriptions.

Nice coin! This one is about the same quality as the one on acsearch assuming some of those marks are on the slab rather than the coin.

acsearch has no ability to guess what we are thinking. For example you find this one only if you match the legends as typed in by the seller replacing you with v in the Latin fashion. Type in augusti and you do not get it.

It's interesting when you come across a coin in such good shape with full legend present any challenge at all with attribution.

To make it a bit more confusing, while this was minted in Rome, they were intended for use in Syria. So, you will find these referenced in both RIC and RPC. (RPC 2001 I think).

That is a very well-centered coin, especially the obverse! Nice details too.
