I just picked up a nice bunch of pre 83 LMC's from my local dealer. He had a bag of 2,250 pennies mostly from the 60's and 70's and nearly all of them red. Many that look uncirculated. I got them for $38.00 or about .017 cents per penny. That's below melt. He told me that he had just got them himself and didn't go through them other than to spot check to be sure they were pre 83. I'm going to be having fun checking them out. I looked a little bit and found some really nice 62's 64's and quite a few BU 70d's. I searched maybe 150 so I have a long way to go.

Do you plan on looking for errors and varieties?

Yes, I plan to look them all over as wellas I can. I don't know alot about errors or what to look for but I will keep an eye out for one. I am also going to be looking for varieties which I can reference quite easily. I'm hoping to find one or two that will pay for the cost of the lot.

seems like a great buy. there are plenty of varieties to be found - and in AU/BU they are a bit easier to spot.

Killer DEAL! I would have jumped on that instantly too. If they are mostly MS red coins, you'll easily make your money back. Besides varieties, look for MS66 and up gems. This could be a chance for you to start a BU roll set.

Would be nice to have one of those books on just Lincoln Cents so you could know more what to look for.

Congrats on the great deal. You'll want to read up on varieties to know what types and years to look for.
