Hey folks,
I've had four $500 boxes of State Quarters sitting in my closet for a few years now. They're composed of years '99-2002 with 10 rolls of each state (five per mint) in the order they were produced. Each are mint-rolled and unopened/uncirculated.

Is there any worth in trying to sell these for anything other than face value? Looking at the blue book I've noticed some rolls (Georgia, for instance) go for quite a bit more than their value. However, it seems most of these are buying prices and not so much for selling.

I'll go ahead and add the disclaimer that baring the change I keep in my pocket, I'm completely new to the coin collecting world. It took me 20 minutes at the local Barnes and Noble just to figure out how to read the blue/red books.

Anyway, any advice will be much appreciated.

Buy some cheap albums, assemble a whole bunch of complete sets, and sell them at a significant premium on ebay.

I honestly don't know if there's any market for unopened rolls of these.

Assuming they're all uncirculated I'd assume there's a market for them.

Do a completed listings search on ebay to get a better idea of what you can actually get out of them. There are many roads you could travel. You could: sell all as one lot, sell as roll sets, sell as individual quarter sets, sell as individual quarters, sell as individual rolls. Each option will bring a higher premium depending on the coins. Let the research begin. :D And welcome.

Since mintages are in the 1/4 billion to almost a billion sell them for any premium you can while someone wants to buy them. As more people get in the know, the market on these will fade.

I sold a lot of UNC Dunbar rolls of the early years in 2007.
Some did quite well back then but I don't know what they would do now.
I listed and sold them as HH - HT - TT Heads/Heads, Heads/Tails and Tails/Tails
and the Heads/Tails were the ones they wanted the most and fetch a slightly better price than the others.
They mostly shipped via US Flat Rate Priority.
I am glad that I got rid of them when I did. Someday we will have to deal with a family members hoard again.
I am not looking forward to it.

Here is a listing description I composed, Maybe it will work for you. feel free to use and tweak it if you like.

Though I stress that you DO NOT USE MY IMAGES of course

New-To-This...what-Do-I-Do-With-All-These-State-Quarters?

The image above is the actual hoard of State Quarters I am listing now.

These are mostly marked in black ink of which state is inside as you can see below, there are some that are marked in pencil and a small number of them that are not marked at all.
Getting an unmarked or pencil marked roll is simply by chance, I won't search through these to do any favors, it isn't fair to the next guy.
Bid as though you will get a small State abbreviation marked on your roll you buy.

In the image below you can see examples of this showing on some of the rolls.

These were wrapped immediately at the bank after being loaded directly
to the wrapping machine from a mint sewn bag.
Very likely the coins inside were never touched by human hands.

There is also the possibility that mint error coins could be in any roll I offer.
They are absolutely unsearched and sealed.

I have many bank rolls, uncirculated $10.00 face value rolls in my new ebay store.
These are earlier issues from the United States Mint's 50 State Quarters® Program
For more information on this program and particular issue you may want to click on this link from the United States Mint.

Shipping is fixed anywhere USA for $4.00 via first class US Mail well protected within a padded mailer.
I will gladly combine any numismatic lots you win or buy.
Just add $1.00 for single coins you want shipped along, and/or add $2.50 per additional rolls of coin.

There are a few rolls that sell above face. CT, TN, IL, and CA are other states.

The Numismatic News edition of 3-6-12, on page 73, lists the value of the State Quarter rolls. It is only an approximation and not a guarantee, of course.

"Redbook" prices for these would be WAYYYYYY OVERPRICED !

I'd completely ignore those listings.
(same with the Bluebook)
These books aren't used much for "pricing"....but more so for "information". Like identification, metal composition, mintage numbers, etc. etc.
And, as a side note, these two books are printed and released SO FAR IN ADVANCE (like a couple years), that the information on "values" can be completely OFF ! (basically with Silver and Gold prices, for sure, anyway)
But you just can't go by their listings of value for the State Quarters, including so many other coins too.
There are other sources to do that.
Numismedia guides.
Greysheets.

You'd get nearly nothing, (beyond face value), for them from a coin shop, if they'd even take them at all.

Ebay/Craigslist, I would guess to be the best hope for some profit for you.
But with fees on your end of things, and shipping/postage costs on the other end.....I dunno how it'd be worth it to the "buyer" really either.
And the overall magnitude of sheer "busyness" of constantly mailing packages, back and forth trips to the post office, packaging stuff,......it's a big hassle and headache too, IMO.
If the rewards were significant, maybe.
If one or two buyers took everything available, maybe.

I'd suggest what others have......buy some albums and start filling them !
Maybe trade some of yours for some years and mintmarks that you don't have. Then you could try to complete a P&D (Philly & Denver) collection of them.
The "Buy/Sell/Trade" section on this forum would be a good place to start ! ...(just make sure you read the rules first to do so)
This kind of thing is where you'll start to get into the fun of actual "coin collecting". (Which is quite different in many ways than "coin hoarding" ! ....)
BUILD THOSE SETS ! .......
