So I visited my local Antique Mall. Occationally they get coins in on consignment or trade. I was looking through her album and decided on a MS-60+ (might hit MS63) 1942P War Nickel. I picked it up for $6.50. I don't know the value of it but it has 4 Full steps and the bottom one is partially full) I tell her that I am actually trying to put together a MS Cent Collection from 1909-Present. She responds "A guy just brought me a 1958-1973 Album that is complete and all MS. She tells me its $20.00. I start looking through the first page. Obviously looking for 1960P Small date and 1972S Small date. Unfortunately they were not in the slots on the first page. On to the next page. The numbers stop at 1973 but he has throught 1977 and also 3-1982 (including Small Date Zincs....but nothing that will make me buy the Album for $20.00. On to the next page....Almost all blank...however I notice at the bottom there is a section for "Varieties" and there are two coins under that...a 1960D Small date.......BUT also a..... $20 Dollars Sold Edited by Jayman931 02/24/2012 4:55 pm

Nice find. The 70s is worth more than what you paid for the whole book.

That is a beautiful nickel, I would have not had to even think twice about buying it for that price.

Bbradford-thanks...I wasn't sure how good of a deal I was getting if any (i haven't really collected nickels). She has 5 more but this one still had the most luster (even though it has a black mark on the top of Jeffersons head) How much will that spot affect the grade?

Try acetone. If you're the adventuresome type, a fraction of a second in jeweluster, distilled water rinse, then acetone.
