Not the 500 restrikes but the actual 4 original ones from the O mint? Google was able to tell me who they were originally given to but that was 150 years ago lol, since then they have gotten new owners :P.

Man I would love one...

Not sure if this is a creditable source;

There were only four originals made and all are accounted
for, although I don't personally know the whereabouts of
the fourth specimen. One is in the collection of the American
Numismatic Society in New York, one in the hands of a St.
Louis collector, and the Jefferson Davis specimen is in the
hands of an Arizona collector. The fourth was sold to a
private collector about 25 years ago. [Perhaps one of our
readers knows its whereabouts - Editor]

There has only been one sale of a Confederate half in recent times. As far as I know, one in in the ANS collection and one is owned by Eric Newman. John Ford had one and that is the only one that has sold in the past 40 years or so (2003 for $632,500). Unfortunately I do not know who currently owns it (a private collector in AZ) or the fourth specimen which I thought was in the Louisiana Historical Society but the reference I checked claims it is in a private collection. If someone has the Stack catalog of the Ford Sale where his was sold it might list the locations of the others. (Tried the Stacks Archives and they can't find the coin.)

Great question! I was actually thinking of the same thing last night when looking in the RedBook at the CSA coinage.

I'm sure we're one of many Southerners who would love to own one! (Be nice for the Museum of the Confederacy to acquire one!)
