Good morning. I have recently bought this coin
How would you grade it? My opinion is EF, it has a scratch behind King's head.
Very dark toning on the obverse. Should I dip it?

Thank you!

If it were mine, I would be sorely tempted to do something to improve the appearance. An equivalent coin without that awful toning problem would much be preferred by anyone considering to buy it. Good luck, which ever way you choose!

Apart from the toning: EF.

Even though it has that scratch, the fields look by the pictures to be very clear. The toning is natural, myself I would leave it as is. AU50 grade..imo

It has mainly nice clear fields. I'd say AU-50 or 53. I wouldn't dip it either since I like the "au naturel" look.

Never dip is NOT correct!
there are times when a short timed dip into acetone will do just miracles...
when you guys say dipped... you actually mean dipping involving electrolysis ?
or some silver bath?
can you explain please?

Thanks everybody! No dipping wins.

@coingirl: For dipping I meant a silver bath. I'm not English mother language, but I think that the term "dipping" is correct. Somebody, please, correct me if I am wrong. Thank you.
