REVISED TO CORRECT IMAGE
Unknown?

This is made of copper 26.6x19.9mm, 1.5mm thich and weighs 3.07 grams.

The obverse looks like it has part of a shield with two Ns to the left. The reverse has a figure of what looks like a man holding a long cross in his left hand.

Anyone recognize this?

Thanks

I always find these Arab - Byzantine coins tricky to nail down. The mint should be under the "M" what you have as the obverse (and upside down). Unfortunately I think this one is too far gone to get much further - unless someone recognises it by style.

Thanks. I reversed the part that was upside down. I had not even heard of these Arab-Byzantine coins. Many thanks for the tip and info!

The closest match that I've been able to come up with Constans II, 641-668 from the constantinople mint his folles were often clipped and used the large size small m. I believe it might be Sear 1000.

I moved this topic to the 'Ancient, Greek, and Roman Coins' forum for a broader audience.

The coin reminded me of Constans II as well.
