What do you guys think of this coin ? It looks to me to have been cleaned and re-toned but I'm pretty new to collecting. I've received coins that I know were dipped and retoned and they all have that rainbow hue to them. I'm not familiar with Dellers Darkener but maybe that's what they use to darken a dipped coin...

Yes the weird purple toning, mild scratches and softly worn details means this coin has surely been cleaned at one point (or many). A coin like this in good condition would have a more redish toning, not purple, and the details would be sharp, not worn.

It looks cleaned/retoned to me. I bet someone hit it with some MS70

Dellers Darkener is just sulphur mixed with vaseline and would give it a more natural color than that.

Sometimes IHC proofs take on a similar color--but slowly over 100+ years.
However, a circulated coin would never take on this color normally.

Here is a natural toned IHC you can see on the letters and feathers on the headdress there is some blue. Also there is some purple color at the top of the coin.
